Antigua is the sort of place that we all dream about visiting.
As with many Caribbean islands, you will find beautiful white sand beaches, luxurious all-inclusive resorts, perfect sunsets, and an idyllic setting for a week or so of relaxation.
However, we didn't want our experience of the island of 365 beaches to be limited to unlimited cocktails and days where time didn't matter.
Renting our own car, we scooted about through lush greenery, villages of colourful clapboard houses, and down coastal roads with the ocean air lingering in the breeze. We stopped for a beer in the shade with our barefoot in the sand, bought hot sauce and pineapples from the side of the road, and let our smiles broaden at the paradise which slowly unveiled before us. All roads in Antigua inevitably lead one St John's however, and a stop off in the capital city of just over 22,000 was required to get some different perspectives on Antigua, and a small taste of day-to-day life here.
